Reaping the Fruits of Our Labors
By Esther McDaniel
It had been a
month since I had left
Hope for Children
Center to travel to
Uganda and visit our
projects there. Now I
was traveling back
with LaQuita and two
of our college stu-
dents from Hope Cen-
ter who are attending
college in Uganda—
my sponsored son,
Duncan Agoro and his
friend and roommate,
Vincent Nyamache.
These two young
men looked after every aspect of our
travel needs. We were so blessed to
have them with us to work out the de-
tails of how to get our luggage trans-
ported across the border from Uganda
into Kenya, as well as many other deci-
sions that would have been difficult for
us to deal with alone. It is wonderful to
personally witness their transition
from children into capable adult mem-
bers of their society.
It was well after dark by the time
we were able to secure the services of a
pickup truck and driver to transport us
the last few miles, as we were very
aware that there was no vehicle cur-
rently operating at the Center.
As we pulled into the drive, I could-
n't help but notice the new gate and
guardhouse that had not been there
when I had left. Wonderful! I knew the
money had come in for this much
needed addition to the Center and it was
thrilling to see that it was now in place.
After a couple of days at Hope Cen-
ter, tying up some "loose ends," we trav-
eled on to Glory Center. Again, I was
thrilled to see that money we had left
with Moses had been used, and the chil-
dren of Glory Center were already
drinking fresh water from their new wa-
ter tanks. What a blessing! How quickly
you responded to the need! How grati-
fying to see the fruits of our labors!
Our Administrative
Convention at Hope
Center was a tremendous
blessing. Just getting all
of our administrators to-
gether in one place to
learn from each other
was important. Having
an opportunity to share
the goals and limitations
of this ministry with
them and to allow them
to share their needs with
us was also tremen-
dously helpful.
Following is a list of
their needs as they pre-
