God’s Army of Youthful Missionaries
By Vicki Kritzell & Esther McDaniel
The efforts of our big “family” have
been just incredible this past few
months. We are especially excited to
share the sacrifices and dedication of
our youngest missionaries. These
young people, who are a part of God’s
large army of youthful missionaries, are
reaching around the globe to help or-
phans they have never met by praying
for them and
conducting
fund raisers.
We hope that
other young
people will
catch their
vision. Imag-
ine how the
future of our
world would
be changed if
each child who has an abundance
wanted to share with even one who is
suffering. “What a wonderful world it
would be.”
The children of the Cornerstone
Christian School in Traverse City,
Michigan, invited “Grandma Shaffer”
(our Sponsorship Coordinator for
Glory Center) to come visit their
school for grades one through six.
They wanted to learn more about the
orphans in Kenya. At that time,
Grandma told them about how cooking
is done at the Glory Center orphanage
and they decided to raise money for a
new cook pot.
A few weeks later, Vicki Kritzell
and Grandma Shaffer were invited back
to pick up a check for the new pot: in the
amount of $1,000!! The principal re-
lated that the kids were bringing in
change by the bucketfuls! They could
hardly believe it themselves when all
was counted and rolled. So, funds have
been sent for not only a stainless steel
cook pot, but
trays, cups
and spoons!
On the
other side of
the world, another
school has taken
the suffering chil-
dren into their
hearts. You may
remember the
names of Krystana
Poreda and her husband, Jacek, from
Poland, for their work in publicizing our
ministry to east African orphans in their
country.
As Krystana shared the story of the
orphans with her high school classes at
the school she teaches in, they decided
they wanted to do something to help.
Krystana wrote the following:
“We are thankful for your letter of
appreciation which you sent to us and
also for the pictures on CD. Thanks to
that presentations on CD we are able to
get better knowledge concerning the sit-
uation of the orphanage and the life in
the orphanage. In my school students
have been permitted to financially help
the suffering children, and because of
that every month there is a collecting of
money for this purpose; in each of
seventeen classes (class groups).
“Usually there is not much money
which our students are giving. But
sometimes also
such things re-
quire big sacri-
fices
of
individual per-
sons. I think that
if one child
would only be
rescued from
the death be-
cause of hunger,
this action
would not be
without reason.”
This letter was accompanied by
many beautiful photos of the teens col-
lecting funds for children they had
opened their hearts too. We are again
thankful to Krystana for her tireless ef-
forts, and for bringing a lesson in stew-
ardship to her young students, as they
sacrificed in raising over $700 in just
two months!
