We’re Off to Africa with Love
By Esther McDaniel & Vicki Kritzell
From Esther
By the time you are reading this ar-
ticle, Vicki and I will already be in
Kenya, interviewing, photographing
and hugging our/your children. We are
very much looking forward to seeing
them, learning their hopes and dreams,
telling them about their families abroad
and assuring them of your love.
Since this will be my third
trip to Kenya and second to
Uganda, I am looking forward
with great expectation to meeting
again those Administrators and
their families that I already know
and love so much. I can also
hardly wait to visit the widows
and orphans whom I have metand
know, in addition to the new ones
I have yet to meet.
I am excited about being able
to introduce so many of my dear
Kenyan and Ugandan friends to
Vicki who has helped me with
this ministry from its inception.
Until now, they have only known
her vicariously through seeing her
name in print, and/or through letters
they have received. I know she is ec-
static over finally being able to meet
them, but I will allow her to tell you
about that in her own words. I just want
to say that God is so good to me to allow
me such privileges!
I am thankful also to inform you
that Steve Reiners will accompany
Vicki and me on this trip. Steve, who is
a member of Logan’s church in Minne-
sota, has visited orphanages in other
third-world countries. We are thrilled to
have him accompany us to evaluate the
work that we are doing and to share his
knowledge and experience of other
places with us. We have also learned
that he is very good at doing interviews
and we plan to tap into that talent often.
Vicki and Steve will only be staying
for three weeks so they will not travel
with me to Uganda but I am happy to in-
form you that the Treasurer for our
Uganda Projects, Pat Reese, will be join-
ing me there for three weeks of that visit.
Michelle Bozenske, our Uganda Projects
Sponsorship Coordinator, wanted badly
to visit our projects there as well, and we
are disappointed that she will not be able
to join us. I know that Pat and I will make
a good team in visiting and assessing the
needs of all of the widows in the project,
as well as our methods of working with
them.
We have sixteen major objectives
for this mission, along with several mi-
nor ones. Due to space in the paper, I
have condensed the major ones into
only eight so that you will know
how to pray for us as we work to
facilitate these goals:
1. To bring glory to God
throughout our journey and as we
conduct our business.
2. To showcase Hope Center
as a pilot program in this ministry
by holding a week-long Adminis-
trator’s Convention there and facil-
itating the attendance of the
Administrators and their wives
from all of the other projects. This
will be a time for all of us to view
the way God has blessed in the con-
structionofHopeCenter,tolearn
from the methods of operation Pas-
tor Maurice has instituted there, to
review the historical and the financial
progress of this ministry from its incep-
tion and to make plans for the future.
3. To visit all projects to get ac-
quainted with, interview and photo-
graph the children and staff and to
update our records.
4. To facilitate the continuation of
our Secondary school and College pro-
grams.
Hearth to Hearth Ministries’
We will be visiting beautiful children; like these from
Uganda that were photographed by Logan Harvey.
