Bridge of Hope Center Orphanage
It is with great pleasure that I am finally able to officially introduce
you to the Bridge of Hope Center, the newest
orphanage to be sponsored by Hearth to Hearth Ministries. Actually, we have
been working with Pastor Mukhooli and
this Center for the past two years behind the scenes. The main reason why we
did not give our official recognition to
this orphanage earlier is because of the lack of funds to nurture it.
When we began working with our Uganda projects at the beginning of 2005, it
was with the understanding that we would send them whatever we could raise
for their work, but that the needs of the two orphanages we were already
working with in Kenya would come first. We realized that to make this
orphanage official was to make a commitment we did not
feel prepared to make. Then, just about the time we planned to “take the
plunge,” we acquired thirty-one extra children from the Kenyan government,
plus many extras at Glory Children's Center, and you know the rest of that
story! Needless to say, the work in Uganda has been progressing under
great difficulties. Pastors Mukhooli and Musungu are to be commended
for the efforts they have put forth under very difficult and trying
circumstances.
The situation with finances has not changed very much in this ministry in
the past few months. We still have very many unsponsored children to
support, an arrearage in school fees for both Hope for Children Center and
Glory Children Center, the need for two orphanages to be built, as well as
numerous other needs, but it seemed unfair to ask Bridge of Hope Center to
continue waiting while we forge ahead with the Good Samaritan Lwanda
Children's Home—a truly much
newer project. Therefore, our Board has voted to take this overdue step
solely by faith, with the understanding that we are
now in a position, largely through our website, to publicize the needs of
all of our projects in a more satisfactory manner, and that God is in
control. He has never failed!
