Glory Children’s Center - Nairobi, Kenya
By Victoria Kritzell
As we move forward with our ex-
panding ministry, we have found the
need to change and adjust in order to
meet the needs of our sponsors and do-
nors. When Trisha Cupra and her hus-
band, William, of Australia, volunteered
to be the sponsorship contact persons for
Glory Center, we were thrilled. They are
so young and enthusiastic; we knew they
would bring a lot of energy into our pro-
ject. What we had not considered fully
was the problem of geography.
Thus far, ten of the children at Glory
Center have been sponsored, all by fami-
lies in the United States. It became ap-
parent to us that we needed to have
someone here in the United States to
communicate
with these Amer-
ican sponsors.
Trisha and Will
readily agreed,
as it is time-
consuming and
expensive for
them to write and
telephone inter-
ested people in
America.
With their
blessing, we have been fortunate to bring
Rebecca and Lisa Clifford into the posi-
tion of Sponsorship Coordinators for
Glory Center, working with interested
people in this country.
Trisha and Will have agreed to work
as a “clearinghouse” in Australia. Trisha
will keep our website updated with pho-
tos and histories of unsponsored chil-
dren and other related matters pertaining
to our orphan projects, and William will
be a source of information to anyone in
Australia who wishes to support our pro-
jects. Will has also agreed to handle
funds originating from Australia. This
means that Australian sponsors from any
of the three projects have the option of
sending their donation to Will, who will
in turn purchase international money or-
ders before forwarding it to our treasur-
ers in America. This will make things
more convenient for any Australian sup-
porters who choose to avail themselves
of this service.
Rebecca and Lisa are not new names
to this work. This mother-daughter team
lives on a farm in Colorado. Rebecca’s
brother, Adam, copied the food distribu-
tion videos,
which have
been made
available to
sponsors re-
cently. He is
now working
on a video
from footage
of the most re-
cent mission
trip. Their fa-
ther, Chuck, is on our Board of Direc-
tors. It was through this family’s
generosity that we were able to complete
the work on some of the
buildings at our new or-
phanage.
When I realized
Rebecca was only 14, I
was somewhat apprehen-
sive. But after talking
with her and her mother,
Lisa, I believe she is just
right for this work.
Rebecca displays maturity
beyond her years. She is
currently organizing a
camp meeting, as well as working on an
audio and video ministry. Her enthusi-
asm is contagious, and her mother, Lisa,
will be working alongside her.
Rebecca loves to read, paint and
write. She has excellent computer and
organizational skills. Most of all, she
loves serving the Lord. Pastor Nyamora
and his wife, Prisca, informed us the or-
phans of Glory Center were thrilled to
hear of Rebecca’s work for them. They
are excited that she is close to the ages of
some of them, giving them an immediate
common ground. We need to encourage
our young people to “take the torch.”
Lisa is kept busy home schooling
her three children and working with her
husband on their farm. She also works
trying out and submitting new vegan
recipes to Standing on the Promises
magazine, which incorporates her love
of cooking. In addition, she enjoys read-
ing, gardening and caring for their dogs
and horses.
Most of all, these two ladies love be-
ing with their family and meeting new
people of faith. Both pray that God
will use them to His glory in working
to care for the orphans at Glory Cen-
ter. I believe they will be a huge asset
to our work, and we welcome this
breath of fresh air into our ministry.
We are happy to an-
nounce that little Earnet
Moraa, who was featured in
our last issue of Spotlight on
Orphans, now has a new
family! Upon seeing her in
the publication, her new
mother called me and told
me she had been waiting for
50 years for a daughter, now
God had sent her one. This
makes a total of ten of the or-
phans at Glory Center now sponsored. We
recently received an inquiry on Erick
Mokua who was featured in February.
Hopefully he will soon be sponsored, too.
We would like to introduce Edwin
Ondwdante to you. We are not sure of
Edwin’s age, but he is in Standard 4
(fourth grade). He and his older brother
Geofrey (16), are total orphans. The par-
ents were killed in a road accident, and
the boys became street children when
the father’s property was seized. This is
very common in
Africa. Greedy
relatives and
even neighbors
loot the home
and the children
are left with
nothing and of-
ten run off with
only the clothing
on their backs.
