A New Treasurer for Glory Children’s Center
Our New GCC Project Treasurer
We would like to introduce Lesa Tressler as our new trea-
surer for the Glory Children’s Center. Lesa comes to us from
Home, Pennsylvania, where she resides with her husband, Ken.
Lesa has spent many years home schooling her five chil-
dren, all of whom are now grown. She currently owns and oper-
ates “Tresslers’ Heart of Home,” a business which includes a
whole grain bakery, therapeutic massage, and all natural lip
balms, soaps and bath salts. Lesa makes these products herself
and markets them through other local establishments as well.
Lesa enjoys sharing the gospel with as many people as the
Lord sends her way. She hopes to open a room in her business
specifically to share gospel literature, and to have Bible studies
and prayer with any who are interested in joining her.
Lesa has had a burden for the orphans in Africa for many
years and had always wanted to be in-
volved in some way in helping them.
When she heard of the work that
Hearth to Hearth Ministries is doing
there, she was very interested in be-
coming part of the program. As an
over-the-road truck driver, Ken is
gone a lot during the week so Lesa is
really feeling her empty nest. She be-
lieves the Lord has provided her with
this opportunity to be a part of this
ministry.
Challenges ahead
Lesa comes to this position at a
very challenging time as we just re-
ceived the following slightly-edited
message from Pastor Nyamora as we
were preparing the final touches to this issue before going to
press, which necessitated our saving an article for next time.
(We want you to have it in his own words):
“I am letting you know that, last night [Friday, September
30] at exactly 12:30 a.m. we had a very difficult time with fire.
The fire started from the neighboring houses, which was started
by thieves who wanted to steal, but they did not succeed and
they decided to burn everything. I thank God that none of our
children was hurt except me and Patrick [one of the volunteer
staff members] when we trying to save some things which we
were able to take out of the house.
“During this time, we lost many of our things like clothes,
shoes, blankets, sheets and four mattresses. This was the time
thieves gets time to steal everything they get. Also, basins and
some of the utensils was lost. It is God’s grace that we are alive.
I think you can see this in the newspaper. This was a big disas-
ter. Three estates were burned to ashes except only our house.
Ours was almost to be burned but God sympathized with us and
the fire extinguishers came before our house was attacked by
fire and helped us in that way.
“I am afraid of asking money but this one is forcing me to
request funds. The children cannot sleep without blankets and
bed sheets and they cannot do without shoes. I am sure you
have no money but pray that we get money to purchase what is
needed. Some people today morning [Sabbath] donated five
blankets to the children when I told them what happened and I
thank God that He gave us some blankets to use until God gives
us more that is needed.
“This time I can’t even know exactly what was lost. We
pray that God to help us and get all what was lost. More espe-
cially clothes, shoes, blankets and four mattresses that are miss-
ing. This is an urgent request, which needs response
immediately. I don’t know where the money will come from,
but God knows. I never wanted to request any money this time
but now I am forced to. I am totally confused and I don’t know
if I am clear to you. Wherever I am not clear, please, forgive and
understand why. I am very tired please.”
I cannot imagine the trauma and stress Pastor
Moses and the staff were under as they tried des-
perately to save all of the children and then as
much of their goods as possible. Surely God was
with them! In response to our request for further
details, we received another email on Sunday
morning where he explained that “As people
came that they are helping us removing things
from the house, as we were giving them,
they were just going with them. The ones
that our children had are the ones
that were in safe hands. Of course
not all people took, but the
thieves were there, pretending
that they are helping us. We did
not notice that they had a lorry
where they were storing those things.
Not only ours but so many people lost things in
that way. But I thank God that we are alive with all our children.
“I and Patrick, we had some small injuries but not very seri-
ous. We went to hospital and now we have some drugs that we
are taking. I was badly affected with the smoke but today I was
able to talk a little bit. Patrick’s leg was swollen but today it
seems that he was able to move around, doing some practice.
The situation was so bad.
“I am happy to hear from you that it will be good to move out
of Nairobi. Let us pray over that point. Nairobi has become so ex-
pensive. Let us pray God to give us funds that when we move
from Nairobi, we move to our own home. God knows everything
we need and we commit all to Him. Let His will be done.”
How you can help
God helped them salvage the important, irreplaceable
“things.” If you would like to send funds to help in this emer-
gency, please send them to Lesa at: PO Box 381, Plumville, PA
16246. For all those who sponsor children at Glory Center, you
will be receiving detailed information in the mail regarding
how to send your monthly contributions to our new Glory Cen-
ter Project Treasurer.
